Jade moves into digital with HP Indigo 'to add dimension'

Jade Press in Leeds has added digital print to its portfolio, installing an HP Indigo Press 3500. Managing director Darren Shepherd said that the Indigo "adds another dimension to our business," with the ability to handle short runs and personalised print.

The company chose the Indigo - which was supplied by Digital People in Chessington - "because it was able to produce quality comparable to offset litho," maintained Shepherd. The company has already produced some promotional material for its own purposes, printed litho on one side and digital on the other, "to allow customers to see for themselves how accurately we can produce an image using either technology."

Shepherd said he believed that "there could be no better time to get into digital than right now." He said it was also a good time for print buyers to exploit the benefits of personalised print. Jade has also added a web-to-print facility, run through its TharsternSQL MIS.
