Hine takes first UK's first Xeikon 3000 for "next logical step"

The UK's first Xeikon 3000 has been installed in Rotherham at the town's specialist trade label printer Hine Labels.

Hine has been a Xeikon user since 2007, when it installed a Xeikon 330 to enter the burgeoning digital label production market. "It provided us with the ability to talk digital with our existing customers and work our way through the whole digital production cycle, which is quite different to our traditional flexographic business," said managing director Bill Hine. "The image quality and production speed meant the 3000 was our next logical step."

The new 3000 press produces images at 1,200dpi with four greyscale levels. It adds 15mm to the imaging width of Hine's previous 307mm-width 330, which boosts productivity.

Bill Hine commented: "Our business comes from trade customers. They want high-quality, colour-consistent labels in the shortest possible production time." He added: "Runlengths are decreasing across many of our markets, and this is what determines our choice of print process for a given job."
